Trained as a metalsmith by master craftsmen in his native Germany, Wolfgang Schulze has been creating works in silver pewter for nearly fifty years. Inspired by the unique flora and fauna of Australia, Wolfgang now works from he and wife Janette's home, on a bush block in Northern New South Wales.
Each piece starts with a rough sketch, and Wolfgang then uses knives, chisels and files to carve his original designs out of silver-rich pewter. This process can take days, so he then reproduces his works in limited editions using a moulding technique. Each piece is hand-finished by Wolfgang.
